For the first episode of this series, we step inside a chef’s kitchen.

Q1. Tell us your story.

I am from Delmas, Port-au-Prince, Haiti, where I still live today. My journey into pastry began with simple curiosity. I found myself constantly searching for recipes online, and little by little, that curiosity grew into a genuine passion.

As my love for baking deepened, I decided to pursue it professionally by enrolling in culinary school, where I earned my diploma. While my formal education gave me a strong foundation, it was only the beginning. Much of what I know today has come through continuous research, hands-on experience, and a willingness to keep learning and improving every day.

Q2. When did you realize this was more than a craft?

The beginning of my journey was not easy. I struggled to manage everything that came with starting my business, and there were moments when I felt overwhelmed.

During that season, I cried out to God for help. As I placed my trust in Him, I began to see things change, and He made a way where I couldn’t see one myself. That experience gave me the assurance that God was with me and that this journey was part of His plan for my life.

Q3. How does your faith show up in your day-to-day work?

My faith influences every part of my business, especially the way I interact with my clients. Even when dealing with difficult situations, I strive to reflect God’s love, patience, and kindness.

There are also times when I receive orders that are completely new to me. Instead of letting fear stop me, I choose to step out in faith. Through prayer, dedication, and hard work, God has always helped me accomplish what once seemed impossible.

Q4. What has been your greatest challenge as a pastry chef, and how did God meet you in it?

One of my greatest challenges was being asked to teach something I didn’t yet feel confident doing. At the same time, I had to work around missing ingredients, which required me to be creative and adapt quickly.

Just as I was about to panic, God reminded me that I could do all things through Him. That reminder gave me the confidence, wisdom, and peace I needed to move forward.

Q5. What would you say to a fellow Daughter or Son of the King who feels called to entrepreneurship but is afraid to start?

My advice is simple: pray first. Once you have peace and confirmation from God, take the first step.

There will be moments of uncertainty, and you will make mistakes along the way but that’s part of the journey. As you continue to trust God, He will guide you, help you grow, and give you greater clarity with each step you take.

Favorite Bible Verse

Although different seasons have led me to different Scriptures, I often find myself returning to Psalm 46:5:

“God is within her, she will not fall.”

This verse reminds me that no matter the challenge, God’s presence gives me the strength to keep moving forward.

A Special Creation

Whenever I prepare desserts for faith-based events, I like to include a more savory flavor combination between the cake layers. It’s my own way of creating something unique and meaningful for those special occasions.

A Final Testimony

I once had a dream in which I saw myself abroad, serving at a large event using techniques I had not yet learned. After waking up, I prayed, “Lord, if You are calling me to greater things, I don’t want to miss the opportunity because I lack the necessary skills.”

That prayer motivated me to enroll in additional training. Remarkably, only one month after completing those classes, I received a major order that required the very skills I had just learned. Looking back, I clearly see God’s hand preparing me in advance for what He had already planned.
